Recommended Restaurants
This is not intended as a guide to the "best" restauarants in the area - we just mention the one's we like the most! So it's an entirely subjective selection. We've avoided mentioning the typical "Kofte and Kebab" places, and instead have tried to list the sort of place that offers something a bit more special for people looking for real Turkish food.
Alya - Uzumlu
There are many excellent restaurants in this part of the world, but at last we can taste Turkish food at its best - right here in Uzumlu village! The Alya is a new restaurant offering a wide range of tasty traditional - and some not so traditional - dishes which we found quite delicious on our first visit. It was good enough to come back for more on the next night too. One of the most attractive aspects of the menu was the sheer variety of dishes. An instant favourite with us. |
The Alya restaurant is owned and run by Ali - the charming gentleman shown above, who is also responsible for the creation of the many Turkish delicacies on the menu as well as the training of the attentive local staff. Here we are starting our meal with the spicy lentil soup to get our taste buds warmed up! The restaurant is easy to find - it's just before the turn into Uzumlu from the main Fethiye road.

Mosaik Bahce - Fethiye
Another one of our favorites - this time in Fethiye. Now in it's second year, the Mosaik Bahce (Mosaic Garden) restaurant is run by Dogan, who originally comes from Antakya (the ancient city of Antioch) in Eastern Turkey. He has brought many delightful local dishes with him, as well as a number of family members to help in the kitchen. An oasis of calm in the centre of town, this is an ideal spot to take a leisurely lunch al fresco and enjoy the sun while you linger over a plate of mixed mezes. And it's very good value too! Fish Market - FethiyeOne of the old favourites - if you don't know this one, then it's time to find out. A unique idea, and the freshest fish and shellfish you can eat in Fethiye. Just choose your fish from the slab, and one of the many small restaurants surrounding the fishmonger's stalls will cook it for you in the Turkish style! And if you want it even fresher, you can order it directly from the boxes as they are brought in from the quayside. Again, very easy to find - see map on left.
